The tuba on the Dallas Mahler 3 is Matt Good. He does play a "huge" horn, but doesn't approach it with that mind-set. As a student of his, I adore his sound. In MY opinion, he uses the horn for volume, but still aims for a sound closer to the one he used to get on his 5/4 Alex. Yes, his horn has been significantly modified by Matt Walters at Dillons and doesn't play like other 2165s. But in all reality, it's not the horn, it's all Matt. He sounds great on whatever horn he picks up. If you are looking for other recordings that demonstrate his talents, then check out the Dallas Mahler 2, Dallas 1812, Dallas Planets & Also Sprach, or even Philly/Muti Daphnis and Chloe.

Please email me if you have any questions you would like directed toward him, and I will try to get his reply to you,
