I absolutely agree!!! That was my solo piece when I won my audition here and I'm convinced that it made the difference. For one thing, I was the only auditioner who played it (out of over 50 players) and the committee was so stunned by the piece that they asked me to play it again in the finals, even though a solo wasn't on the list for that round. The committee wanted the music director, who was hearing me for the first time, to hear this piece. Also, just like Sean said, you have to grab the committee right from the get go. The beginning of the Kraft, done correctly, will quiet any room. Just remember to set yourself apart from everybody else at the audition, always in a positive way. That process starts with choosing a piece that you can play extremely well and that will distinguish you from everybody else at the audition. Kraft fits that bill. Good luck and work hard!
