I have a full beard and mustache myself and I know what you mean! I used to wear one of those Quaker faces, with full beard but no mustache, because I couldn't get comfortable playing with a mustache. Then I saw Fritz Kaenzig do it and I decided to give it another try. I can't offer any advice other than to say that you do get used to it. One thing I have to do is keep my mustache tightly trimmed. If it gets long, I end up with alot of discomfort. It also looks pretty funny when I play with those long mustache hairs looking like they cover the upper rim of the mouthpiece. That might have been more detail than you were looking for...;-)
