I think you touched on an important point: I think that an embouchure's strength is to be found in the corners of one lips. Those muscles, the obicularis oris, are the two 'pillars' which really hold your chops together. Just have a feel when you're playing next, they do most of the work.

Depending on how long you've been playing, the obicularis oris, can get really hard and strong. If you form a high embouchure, feel the corners, they should be nice and solid. If these muscles aren't strong, then bad habits such as using excessive pressure tend to creep in.

I don't usually like talking about tuba playing in terms of anatomy, the music should speak for itself.Just some food for thought...
