This was a point Abe Torchinsky brought to us when we did the book. Arnold did not really like being called "Jake" and Gizzy would go ballistic at times. Members of the CSO always called him "Jake" so we imposed a rule that all students refered to him as Mr. Jacobs, colleagues could refer to him as Jake. The only times he is refered to as "Jake" in the book is by Mr. Herseth and Mr. Clevenger.

It is interesting that Mr Jacobs always called Mr Herseth "Bud", like most everyone in the orchestra. They were roommates on the road for years and the best of friends. I really didn't want to change what he wrote - hey, that's Adolph Herseth! Speaking of respect, there are many postings on the trumpet list refering to Adolf Herseth. Remember a certain Adolf that we would rather forget? I feel that is disrespectful.

Finally, with a last name of Frederiksen, I am use to misspellings, don't worry about it!
