An F tuba is a great choice for any situation. Most people say that they are only for quintet work and solo stuff. It's all a load of bull. My 6 valve Miraphone 181-U gets as powerful of a tone as any BBb or CC. This is because it has the same, or in many cases a larger bore than its larger relatives. Also, the 6 valves alow for the same low range of the larger horns, but with the F you will be able to play higher for longer periods of time. Many pros use them and wont ever go back to a larger instrument. I know I won't.
