I'm wondering, do people still avoid general ed classes til the last possible minute?
Are such classes still thought of as "who needs 'em" and inconvenient? Does ANYone see school as an opportunity anymore, or is it simply a means to a vocational end?

Does Cleveland start with a "k"?

At the first baccalaureate sermon I heard (yeah there were still schools in the 20th century where a baccalaureate sermon was preached prior to commencement), the speaker made an interesting statement, paraphrased "an undergraduate's degree prepares you to learn. Completion of a graduate degree gives you a specific body of knowledge, and a doctorate demonstrates that you have incorporated that body of knowledge into a lifestyle."
