What if the two selected BBb tubas were a 1968 Holton BBb 345 (similar to the one on eBay right now) and a 1968 Mirafone 186 ?
I don't think those two different BBb tubas' Db's would be very happy with one another.
This kinda reminds me of some of the worst-sounding school band programs in our area, whose director[s] claim that they need to select the brand[s] of instruments that all the kids will buy, so that they will play in tune and blend better...
