I am looking into buying a new f tuba. I have played several models but am still looking for the perfect instrument (you know, one made in never never land).

It seems like everything that I have tried is either a very big tuba (MW45, YFB822 Rudy Meinl) or very very small (mw182, YFB 621). Or is really weak in the lower register (older B&S PT10 with rotors).

I am looking for a good BASS TUBA that can be used for solo, quintet or small ensembles. I would like to have good low range response as well (all of the tubas listed above seem to have good low range with the exception of the pt10.

What is out there as far as 4/4 f tubas that you have played and liked?

Thanks for the help.
