Since the advent of the Yamaha DX 7 (I think in 1984 or 1985?) most of the higher-end synths have come with settings for "de-tuning" themselves into various systems: Pythagorian, Just, Mean, even "Bar Room" (hmm...). We messed with these settings a bunch in Undergrad. It was eye-opening to say the least.
