It sounds like your teacher is a wonderful person who wants only the best for you.
That having been said, I am sure that he will support you in whatever you decide you want out of life. I'm sure he realizes that unless you are doing what you really want to do, you can never be truly fulfilled...and he would not want to stand in the way of your happiness.
Just give it to him straight. I'm sure he'll appreciate the candor and he may eb able to share some points of view that will be helpful.
