The jupiter 582 has been a good horn for my school. The horn has a free-blowing dark sound that works well in the ensembles. The low range is easy to play, while the higher range does need some work to play well. The 2 drawbacks to my horns are that the brass is a little thinner than I would like for school, and likewise dents seem to happen quicker. If you are not careful, the exposed wrapping will dent, even though my horns have not been damaged in this fashion.

For the money, the 582 is difficult to beat. If money is no object, then you can get more expensive instruments. I don't know that the added expence is worth the cost. If I were buying a personal horn, then there are some better horns, depending upon the use of the instrument.
