YIKES! You have your hands full with only one player and a 3/4 sized tuba. One should NEVER play so loud that the sound gets ugly. Play as loudly as you can, and still maintaing the depth and beauty of sound that you normally get at more 'sane' dynamic levels. If you can, see if you can borrow a larger tuba, this was you will be able to keep up with the rest of the group. good Luck!
