F tubas

I have a weird question to ask of my fellow BBS readers. I play a CC tuba and recently bought a Yamaha 321 Eb tuba. I love my horn as it works really well for what I do, solos and the occasional quintent part. My question is that I recently had the oportunity to play a B&S PT10 F tuba. I found the low register, anything below the staff, to be extremely hard to play. I could not get a good, resonant sound out of it. The rest of the range of the horn was beautiful and I still am bothered by this. My friend picked up the horn and made some wonderful low sounds to come out and I was awed. I don't have this problem on my Eb nor on any Eb I have tried so I was wondering if this is common to Eb players that play the occasional F tuba or if this is me needing to practice more. I look forward to hear what everyone has to say.
Thank you in advance,
Henry
