Joe et al:

I once saw a mouthpiece that apparently was also trying to acheive a similar degree of "constructive resistance". It was a european make that I don't recall, about the size of a Mirafone C3 or so, and had and a series of small pits machined into the inside of the cup. It appeared very well made, and the plating was done after the pits were machined. I believe it was a spiral or perhaps concentric rings of these pits, maybe 50 of 'em in there.

Has anyone out there tried one of these freaks? I suppose it could add a trifle of beneficial resistance to a really "open" horn, or facilitate high register playing (throat appeared medium-to-large, so low register should still be good).

Any thoughts out there on this?
