I would like to say that I play with my moutpiece off center and also a little bit to the right. I have been playing my horn for 8 years now and have been fairly succesful up to this point. Although this is second hand information, someone once told me that Arnold Jacobs once said that the lips are just trained meat, and then proceeded to move the mouthpiece all around his face while playing an orchestral exceerpt. It really shouldn't matter as long as it works for you. Like others have already said, you are your own person, and what works for someone else may not necessarily work for you. So, if you are playing good now, and your lips are comfortable, then don't fret about the position. Concentrate on good solid air stream and making beautiful music foremost, and everything else will work itself out.

My two cents,
Jay McKellar
