You're talking about creating and reinforcing breaks in the range; I'm talking about eliminating them so they don't exist. If the lips stay in the same relationship (upstream or downstream) for the entire range without changing, the breaks caused by THAT problem won't be there. There are a lot of players who learn to play with those breaks very successfully; there are others who don't have those breaks because they don't change airstream direction. My opinion is that it's much better to learn to play without airstream changes - it CAN be done, it makes everything easy, and the sound does NOT have the "breaks" that it does when the airstream changes.

If you're going to talk about the "Pivot System", Donald Reinhardt wrote the book, and what he described and taught has NOTHING to do with what you and most people call a "pivot". The real Pivot System is all about eliminating breaks with a strong and stable embouchure, and NOT "waving the horn in the breeze" (as he called it) with angle changes.
