Hey peoples! I have an uncanny musical talent, and I've been forced into the tuba section... specifically sousaphone. My section leader has known me for 6 years, and this is her senior year- I happen to be a freshman. Now, I'm mostly a flutist (cause they're the coolioest instrument, yanno), and I've done events with the flute and piccolo for marching, but now the full-blown season is approaching, and I'm stuck on sousaphone. I've got it at home with me right now, but I don't know what I can do to compensate with the pain. My left shoulder is all swollen from a 2 hour rehearsal that I got to sit down in yesterday. To top it off, the joints in my knees and hips aren't all that great, and if I walk too long (or with too much weight), I have to stop. If anyone has any suggestions on how to ease the pain, or enhance my -erm- shoulder strength, please let me know as soon as possible, band camp starts Monday, August 25th. :-( Thank you all very much for your time.
