I think the general idea here is basically good. However, like Mr. Chisham has stated before, huge amounts of actual face on the horn time is irreplaceable. I don't think anyone (except POSSIBLY the absolute most gifted person) would be able to be competitive with 1 hour (50 min I think you said) of practice per day broken up into 10-20 minute sections. I dont think 4 straight hours of unfocused practice is great, but I think playing the horn for 1 1/2 hours over about a 2 hour span is very manageable. That gives plenty of time for breaks etc. Like you said, it's different for everyone I'm sure...but never playing for more than 20 minutes straight isn't going to build up much endurance or continuity.
