Mary Ann,
I question your logic. EVERY rotary horn I have owned has had a really long leadpipe before the first valve. Both of my Alex's had them, the Rudy 3/4 had one, as does my present Yamaha. The only piston horn I have owned, a Marzan, had a really short leadpipe. I daresay the the majority of rotary horns have leadpipes significantly longer than any piston horn I have seen, short of the MW 21xx series. I think that the taper of the leadpipe has alot more to do with resistance than the length.
