You're only liable to bring up the old Helicon vs. Sousaphone knucle heads out. And being a BBb you've outed yerself not "legit."
It came from a rather shady eBay dealer who claimed to have bought a truckload rotary valve oddities from a Russian source. You should see the nearly square shaped upright-yet-actually-rotary valved cornet I got from him. Sounds almost as crappy as it looks.
Oh yeah. It's probably Soviet Russian. Sounds best with Vodka, though Serbian Slivovitza works in equal doses.
