Your fellow Texan (I think, and otherwise a decent human being) Rick Denney has given you good advice. When I was a junior in high school (45 years ago), I got a brand new Alex 164, only to set it aside 6 months later because I changed schools, instrumental music wasn't cool in the new school, and teenagers are sometimes desparate to fit in. I kept the horn and picked it back up almost 30 years later, to my very great and continuing pleasure. It wouldn't have happened if I hadn't kept the horn. Leave the opportunity open and be patient.
