Low range technique

I am play an excerpt from Romeo and Juliet for an audition. The one with the f minor scale pattern. When I play the first three low f's there is a fair amount of air leaking out from the sides of my mouth. My horn has a tremendous amount of resistance from that note downward. Is this a problem that will hurt me badly in an audition, or will it be overlooked? I am more than willing to take any recommendations you have to fix the problem I have.
