I bought the 163 that is pictured on Dillon's site. Getting used to this horn has been a pleasure for the last few months. I was in the market for a much larger horn when I walked into Dillons, but the second I sat down with that horn it was pretty much a done deal. I disagree with John about the sound of this horn, I think it has a richness about it that I don't know how to describe. It is not an orchestral bazooka, but I think it is extremely versatile. As far as intonation problems go, it is fantastic for an Alexander, and is no harder to learn to play in tune than the Hirsbrunner or Yamaha 822 CC tubas that I have played in the past. I'm happy with my results with this horn and don't have any regrets...that doesn't mean I won't want a BAT sometime soon, but it was a financially feasible horn that I really liked.
