Find out where all the inner city 'garage bands'(without actual garages) practice. Usually you can rent a climate-controlled room specifically designated for loud-music-making for as little as $100 a month. You can make this place your studio, and cover the rent by teaching a few extra lessons per month.
If you have a small chamber ensemble, see if you can get the members to go in on it with you.. .that way you have a place for the ensemble to practice, for barely the price it would cost to eat out a few nights in a row.
