Congratulations John! Yes, there were some very good players there, I was told 35 tubists were on the audition list. I auditioned and unfortunately didn't perform as well as I could have.....I didn't even make to the 2nd round. Strange phenomenon, Audition jitters. Auditioning is very different than performing in some ways. I would like to hear others opinions on this topic. I had a chance to talk to several friendly guys. It was very hot in the practice rooms, like every other audition I've done. At least two guys told me they probably wouldn't accept the position if chosen. They just wanted the experience. The first round consisted of 4 excerpts.
Die Meistersingers
Prokofiev 5
Mahler 1
Fontane di Roma Respighi
The first round was bang bang..just long enough to play through all the excerpts John, I'm sure many of us would like to hear about your background and and any tips you mght have to avoid audition jitters.
Again Congrats.
