Don't know what brands of tuba you've been playing, but I've measured bell thickness of most European brand tubas: they're almost all made from 0.5mm sheet brass. Exceptions are some MW (Melton) 2165 bells and the some bells for Getzen G50 (also made at MW / Melton factory), which sport bells of 1.0mm wall thickness.
Which tubas are 0.7 / 0.8?
