I chose my words carefully. Since I've personally never devoted enough time to that pursuit to realize benefits, I can only define my OWN mouthpiece buzzing pursuits as "fooling around".

(I really do think that it is a surely a great way to force oneself to be accurate with locating pitches, but the trick is accurate simulation of the resistance of the tuba - I'm not, however, discounting the value of it at all.)

As to going on trips and still trying to figure out a way to practice, etc., I admire you. As to me, when I don't have a tuba with me, I ain't a tuba player.
