If the DB euph plays in tune, it is definitely worth having it overhauled. It's worth anywhere from $1800 to $3000 to a collector depending upon the condition, how elaborate the engraving is, whether it's silver plated or not, whether it is a 4 or 5 valve, among other things. If you can, hold onto that DB euph. If it is in good shape its value will go nowhere but up. IF you wanted to sell, you could finance getting a very good new horn.

You can pick up good quality used euphoniums for anywhere from around $1000, for a 4-valve, non-comp instrument like a King, Yamaha, or Conn, up to around $3000 for a top of the line horn like the Willsons or Besson Sovereigns. Dillon currently has a King 2280 on their web site for $895 or a Besson for $2295. If you shop around you can find something good. It's worth spending $800 - $1200 for a good horn versus buying one of these Chinese junkers.
