I'm guessing its a function of living in the REAL world where REAL dollars are spent buying a tuba. Some people just can't open their wallet and expect to find upwards of $6000 to $10000 just waiting to be spent. I'd love to drive a Hum-Vee as my primary vehicle. Its big enough, durable, and extremely safe. But the price tag is well outside of my reach. I guess I just don't care about quality because I try to get a vehicle that closely matches the Hum-Vee attributes without spending that much money which I don't have.
Or maybe some players just know that as long as a tuba has no major impediments, they'll sound okay on it. I guess it kind of depends on how you look at things...
