"Down with tone poems" - what does that mean? Seji Ozawa, the longest tenured conductor in the history of your beloved BSO, does lots of Richard Strauss. So, what are we to make of your statement? Many of these tone poems (Strauss) have terrific tympani parts and, if memory serves me correct, the original posting was about Vic Firth, not the BSO vs. Jacksonville.
