I don't think anyone has mentioned Revueltas' Sensemaya, a major piece of tuba repertoire in which the tuba gives the principal theme statement, and what a statement.
And with all the attention on Vaughan Williams 4th, no one has singled out the 6th, a powerful piece with highly challenging part in it own right.
One of my favorites is the criminally neglected Symphonie: Harmonie der Welt by Hindemith. Characterized by open independent line writing and contrary motion figures in brass more than out-and-out solos, it is a great piece that needs to be played.
