"A recent announcement of a huge 4 piston BBb comes to my mind in that context."

You are dead right, Klaus. I have wanted one of those big Conn BBb's for a considerable time, but never before saw one in acceptable condition at a price I could not leave alone. Now that I have it and am playing it, I still feel that way. Have I seen more beautiful examples? Check back a way for Lee Stofer's fully restored, silver plated big Conn. Gorgeous! But not my price point. I've also seen some nice 20J's (3pv/recording bell) under $2k. Not the configuration I wanted. So, the only real risk I took (aside from the possibility of getting stiffed - always a possibility in a long distance transaction) was that the horn would not be a 'player'. And I considered that risk minimized by what I've learned of the seller from postings here. So:

Provide good information (including pictures),
Price the item for sale at a reasonable price,
Tell where the item is located (affects shipping cost),
Provide good, clear communication with potential buyers.

A $1500 silver-plated paper clip makes an amusing thread, but I doubt it will sell the horn.
