There are several causes of piston valve noise. New felts/corks can quiet the sound of the valve hitting either extreme down or up position. But many piston valves have another source of noise, the sound of the valve guides rotating and hitting the sides of the guide slots. Replacement of the guides for a closer fit usually cures this.

Also, check to make sure that the valve caps are screwed on securely; a slightly loose one can make a heckuva racket.
