What SA said about using an emory board to file down any burr on the tacquet is a good suggestion... as is keeping a spare set of guides on hand. If you think the groove or channel the tacquet rides in is contaminated, you can take a wooden match stick, put a drop of oil on it, and rub up and down inside the groove to clean out any debris that might be there. Don't use any metal object as it will scratch the brass.

Also, I found the best oil for my Yamaha (641) euphonium is Hetman Light Piston Oil. This oil is for tight valves which Yamaha is known for. Also, BiNak has a new oil called BiNak Pro for tight valves.
