At the risk of confusing things further, let me throw this in: the idea that instruments that play in the key of C play at concert pitch (untransposed, in other words) only applies to music that is written in treble clef. For bass clef instruments, all music is untransposed (except for swapping octaves, as with string bass and bass guitar), and the key of the instrument refers to the fundamental pitch of the horn. For instruments in bass clef, instruments in different keys mean learning different fingerings or slide positions.
