Some time ago I asked the same question about a chinese rotary-valve euphonium. The makers seem to have copied the problem faithully. I have found that certain CC and BBb tubas display the same syndrome, both piston and rotary models. What they all seem to have in common is conical tubing that gets too big too soon. I call it the "too fat syndrome". Slightly more conservative tapering, such as with Kings and the new Conn 52j/56j seems to be the answer.
