I know this is not a tuba related question, but some of my collegues and I were having this discussion earlier today and I thought perhaps some of you more scholarly types might know a bit about the history and development of band instruments. My question: Why did they ever make a piccolo in Db? My thought was it may hve been a carry over from the old high pitch days. I mean an instrument that plays one half step higher than written?!?!?! What were they thinking?
It sounds like a neat idea for a tuba however. what do you think of a Db tuba? It could bridge that gap between the CC and Eb.....
