No, no information needed any more. My part of that project took place from March of 1986 through August of 1988. Since then, Fort Hamilton fell victim to the Base Closure Act. The Band was deactivated at that time. Many of the players were able to transfer to other bands, but if the Army did not need you at that moment, you were "free to retrain". Some fine players were forced into the Military Police field (as that is an Army Bandsman's combat job). This was one of the top two bands in the Army's Post Band system, playing as well as some of the MACOM bands. It was a sad thing. The library contained over 15,000 titles!! I do not know what happened to it or any of the Band's equipment.

For a short period, we had no flutes at all! We had a really great euphoniumist from Naples, Italy. He played the piccolo solo in "Stars and Stripes" and never, ever made a mistake. His name is Antonio Bortone. Anyone here know him?
