There is one thing that you could do to improve your setup at almost no cost. If you added a music mixing and editing program you could work with the material after it is recorded. EQ, compression, reverb, and other forms of digital signal processing (DSP) can improve yur sound and the sound of the room or space. If you go to the Digi Design website you can download Pro Tools free (it is) which has a version for either PC or Mac.
Also if you record in stereo - this requires two microphones and a stereo bar ($15.00 or so for the bar) you can improve the spaciousness of the sound a great deal. Happy recording,
Phil
