Personally, I know of nobody that actually starts going to bed EARLIER in college. And 7:45 is early enough, without two hours of practice beforehand. I practice when I can, which is sometimes at 2PM, sometimes at 2AM. A fairly typical day has me in class/rehearsal till about 7:30, I do some homework, practice from 11PM till 1AM, go running, then do some more homework or something. A lot of times youve gotta substitute that homework for a social life, but I do run everyday. Just find something that works for you. Most music departments that I've known of have had a way for instrumentalists to access buildings with practice rooms 24 hours a day. And always remember, the more nights you get drunk, the more often you go to 8:30 comparative politics classes hungover.

Patrick, who is thinking about going to practice right now
