It mystifies me that someone felt that a trumpet-shaped (weight at arms length) was a better design than a traditional bell-front bari (weight hugged to the body). I think if I were designing a 'convertible', it would be a Weril 4-valve euph with an interchangeable front-bell. I know that's not feasible for customizing in a small-shop environment, and I also know that the market would yawn because these wouldn't look "cool" enough, but I still think it'd be the best sounding, easiest to hold, most versatile instrument for the money.

Joe Baker, who really likes watching Drum Corps, but thinks that marching bands had a few things right all along.
