Or, the way I viewed my experience is that you learn what it's like to work hard on your own DESPITE your environment. It's just a different perception of the same thing.

I agree with a lot of what's been said, and like "practice rooms..." said below, hang out with the people that care about how they're doing, and keep reaching for your own standards no matter how much higher they are than anyone else's.

These kinds of problems are prevalent in many, many undergrad programs. That's just the way it is -- for most of the kids, music is a hobby, or an excuse to make a bunch of friends, go to games, or worse yet, only to please their parents or boost their GPA.

Toubled, I swear -- are you going to my old college? It sounds really, really familiar.
