Your situation is one that is common on many college campuses. I have a very strong opinion about this subject, but feel that this is not the appropriate place to vent. However, I find that if a student is not expected to excel in one area, other areas suffer as well. My advice is to learn from your situation and avoid duplicating the aspects that you feel are negative.
