I believe the festival is partially a scam. If you make it in and send money, they may not need you. The fine print says that you will be able to apply any fundraising to future seasons. I know of one person who had this happen to him.
I've heard of singers having a good time doing the festival. There have been enough bad stories over the years to make me wary. Fortunately I did not send money after having my own tape accepted as an audition.
