Shortly after I had the work done on my 982 I bought a 983. For me that is the ideal horn. Nice easy low register and a sweet high register. The 983 is a bit smaller than the 982 but I can still support a 60 piece band with no problem. It is also a good horn for solos and quintets. The 983 is also easier for me to hold and it is lighter in weight. I pull out the 982 for outdoor gigs and parades and that sort of thing. I'm still glad I had the work done on the horn. It does sound better with the new leadpipe.
