Not a good idea to try this spoon technique at home. When the dent was made, a certain amount of "stretching of the metal" occurred. Therefore if you push the low spot back out there will be extra metal there, and no place for it to go. So now the finish will have some ripples in it. An experienced tech can minimize this and with judicious buffing your instrument will look almost as new. TRUST ME on this. It is not all that expensive to have it done correctly.
