Played a nice solo, with several themes and dynamic ranges from loud to fairly soft.
Just strived for the best tone possible, and having played the solo a great deal beforehand helped a lot. The only thing I had to overcome was a minor anxiety attack, since I was playing one-on-one with the conductor of the YS. I played two scales, then a large chunk of the solo, at which point he stopped me. Oddly if anyone knows the original arranger of the TubaChristmas music, this is who I played for. We talked about my playing aspirations, and figured out the results. I was then sent happily on my way. I made the "position."
