Tried to practice on the 86th story observation deck of the Empire State Building on a nice evening in April of 1986. But the building has its own security force, and I got to meet a whole bunch of them! It seems that they thought that I might try to toss my tuba over the edge!
It seems that my little stunt caused the elevator guy a lot of trouble from the cops, so I came back the next day to apologize. He was not amused.
Needless to say, you can no longer take things up there with you in large gig bags anymore.
