I couldn't offer extra credit because not all families can afford private lessons. I explain the benefits which helps. Also, if they take private lessons, I allow them to not have to come to the school sectionals if they don't want to. The have to do one or the other (or both if they want). Some kids, or their parents, don't want to miss class to come to lessons.
